In another working progress

ImageImageImageHello! Just arrived home and continued to paint on my still not done painting! I hope you can see the motive? No, not at all done! But I think I am on a pretty good way to get happy about this painting, this time. It´s so great. It´s wonderful to paint. When I paint am I in my own happy little world, kind of escaping a bit. But after you have been hit around with all these colors you most study, I am going to that now….

Edvard Munch with the California washed out colours of David Hockney or Richard Diebenkorn (except for the greens which are so intense) (Kandinsky had a prejudice about green, no one knew how the eye worked then). The covered eyes subdued the palette – that’s a lovely play with the depicted and the depiction. Perhaps you didn’t know this. You’re young, you’re future seems golden. I can see that the painting is about your situation, but as an artist looking at art, that is the least interesting part. What’s interesting is that you can paint. Keep doing it. You’ve got a James Ensor thing going on, including the love of red pigments. I find Ensor disturbing, but that’s beside the point. Mouths are the hardest part – someone said that, I wouldn’t know, I never paint people.

Thanks! I am just painting because I love it! And if you want you portrait to look complitely real, then I Also think the mouth is pretty hard.

One of my favourite new images I have seen in some time. I love the texturing you’ve done on her lips and locks. the palette implies that she’s fading out of existence. Bravo.
