First day at work

20130708-014626.jpgToday was the first day of my summer work this year! It was so much better then I thought it would be. I´m working at Kalmar´s museum. I really liked it! The staff was nice and I got to watch kids while they painted and lone them pirate clothes. And when there weren´t any in the department I was in I could walk around and look and read all the facts. So after these three weeks can you ask me anything about pirates, ´cause I´ll know!

Sounds like you found a really good job – well done. Maybe you can use it to move into a related career ( if you enjoy it)?

Your English is getting very good now. One little thing though… some English words seem to be ‘singular’ but are plural. The word here is ‘staff’ which has more than one meaning but if you are referring to more than one person as ‘staff’ then you need to use plural verbs not singular ones. “The staff were (or are) nice” not “The staff was (or is) nice”

You could use ‘was’ correctly if you single out one of the staff in particular. ” A member of the staff was very kind to me” not “A member of the staff were very kind to me.

    Hope that helps?
